April : Water Element | Earth Month : REGROW

Updated: Apr 15

As April approaches, we stand at a fascinating intersection of cosmic energy and earthly renewal. This month invites us to explore the fluid connection between our emotional waters and the nurturing soil beneath our feet—perfectly harmonizing with Earth Month as we embrace the opportunity to REGROW alongside the blossoming world around us.

April | origins & celestial movements

The derivation of April’s name dates back to ancient Rome, which is rooted in the Latin word "Aprilis." The word's etymology delineates our observations of nature this month- a time of opening, as the leaves and buds emerge from their winter sleep to greet the warming sun.

Do you notice yourself opening up more as we move into longer, brighter days?

A Libra "Pink" Full Moon arrives on April 12th, wrapping us in the Cardinal Air energy of this peace-making, relationship-oriented sign.

The fascinating astrological dance between Libra's airy mental creativity and April's emotional watery terrain offer us a unique opportunity to walk Life’s paths with our own sacred intentions.

The Air Element of Libra encourages intellectual curiosity and balance, while the Water energy of April demands emotional depth and intuitive flow. This interchange creates a space to authentically express our emotions via creative endeavors, and offer ourselves moments of healing through creative rapport.

Although commonly called the "Pink Moon" by modern traditions, Indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest have their own rich naming traditions for this moon cycle that connect closely with the natural world around them.

The Tulalip Tribe, who are the original inhabitants of the land on which ITBC originates, call April’s Full Moon “The Time of the Cranes” since weather begins to warm, their food is more readily available, and these beautiful birds (along with swans and others) start migration and share their songs with us once again.

Later in the month, a New Moon in Taurus emerges on Sunday the 27th- a weekday traditionally associated with solar energy, masculinity, and preparation for the days ahead. This Fixed Earth sign brings us practical, steady energy that encourages us to dig deep and extract the seeds of our true intentions.

Let’s consider the contrast between these moon events: the light, rapid, airy quality of the Full Moon, and the dark, compact, earthy quality of the New Moon.

This natural cycle mirrors that of our inner realm, reminding us that growth demands both expansion and contraction, expression and containment.

So, how is your sense of balance growing? (Firstly, how do you define balance?)

A gentle hand intentionally offers Water, quenching the roots and the enriching soil facilitating daily growth.

As we ground into the wider Earth Month celebrations, this is a lovely time to tap into your magic, practice nourishing rituals that honor yourself, community and Mother Earth, while intentionally cultivating your next personal phase to REGROW.

Remember, you are magic.

And you don't need permission to root into Self, grow, prune, and bloom.

Try playing and plugging into the month's Water Element by tending to your inner-wells frequently, and with the utmost intention.

Commit to growing just a little each day.

Water Element | emotional depths & intuitive flow

Water is the Element that we embody through our human emotions. It connects us to the dream world, is associated with healing, our intuition, and the universal field, and it flows through the thirty days of April with a naturally cleansing and refreshing power.

As a practice of self-care through awareness, we invite you to ask yourself the following questions throughout the weeks of this moist month:

A woman is pictured in a moment of mental and emotional awareness with her eyes closed, her light brown hair hanging long, and hands crossed over her bare chest with fingers resting on the opposite shoulder. Her face is relaxed looking content.
Self-care has many facets, and emotional awareness is only one of the many watery ways to tend to our fountain of Life.

Do you experience emotional highs and lows through your day? Throughout the week? Month?

Have you met and connected with your emotional triggers? Knowing them can help you work through your inner waters with more understanding.

Your dream life is another gateway to your underwater world.

Do you remember your dreams? Did you ever? Have you ever considered keeping a dream journal to trace your nighttime excursions?

The veil between the state of waking and the land of dreams is tenuous during this watery month, so it’s an ideal time to initiate such a practice.

|

What forms of self-care explorations are you using on a daily basis? Monthly or otherwise?

Which practices do you find yourself drawn to, calling for more commitment? What resources could you call upon to cultivate, deepen, or expand your self-care routines?

Today is the day to either begin, or make a plan and commit (to yourself!)

What does your inner knowing feel in your body? In your mind? In your spirit?

How do you become more skilled at listening deeply, especially when it feels most difficult to do so?

Remember, the best medicine is found in moments when we meet our greatest resistance.

How do you tap into and receive more assistance from the Universe? Try opening yourself up to receiving and connecting in alternative, yet resonating, ways.

For best results, Water yourself regularly

|

Water nourishes Spring's seeds, promising future beauty and bounty. How well do you tend your own inner soil, and the seeds of your dreams? What bodies of Water do you encounter daily?

Your morning shower, a backyard pond, a garden fountain, or the vastness of the sea?

Do you ever offer it thanks, or other appreciation? Next time, give it a try.

How can you invoke the energy of Water to help you effortlessly float and feel fulfilled this month?

Experiment with your drinking water sources (finding a local spring if possible!), infuse the steps of your showers with words and intention, indulge in a soul-cleansing sob, or visit a body of water to fully immerse yourself in its wonder.

Choose a method and welcome in Water's wisdom today.

Water is also represented throughout the journey of Tarot, being especially connected to the Minor Arcana Suit of Cups- the vessels that hold our emotions, our relationships, and our intuition.

In what ways has your emotional or heart condition shifted since the beginning of 2025?

The fourteen cards of the Suit of Cups from The Future Ancestors Tarot deck by Lexa Luna Studio are laid out over one another with the deck box laying horizontally above them.
The Future Ancestor Tarot offers powerful, yet easy-to-digest imagery and card explanations for a fresh take on this emotional suit

In what ways have you grown or pruned compared to yourself two, five, or ten years ago? In relation to your childhood self?

On a scale of 1-10, where 1 is not at all and 10 is completely changed, how much do you still resemble or identify with these past versions of yourself?

It’s perfectly alright to feel the discomfort of growth or stagnation of a torpid state, it’s all part of a natural cycle.

But you must feel it to grow from it.

Earth Month | connection & conscious action

April encompasses Earth Month, a movement that began as a single-day celebration on April 22, 1970.

This grassroots effort was initiated by Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin, coordinated by Denis Hayes, and started as a national teach-in on college campuses about environmental issues, possible solutions, and sparking the discussions that would seed future change.

The first Earth Day mobilized 20 million Americans across the country- 10% of the total U.S. population at the time- to rally for environmental causes, which ultimately paved the way for the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the passage of legislation such as the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act.

What does your rally cry for Mother Earth look and sound like?

A woman sits at a desk with a computer, surrounded by books and candles, with a mountain view visible through the large window. It's a warm and serene atmosphere where she is putting her Magic In Action for environmental protections on Earth Day, and everyday.
What can you do to manifest your rally cry through Magic In Action?

|

From its humble beginnings, Earth Day has become a global phenomenon and is now celebrated by more than a billion people across 190+ countries. The recognition of growing from a single day to now the entire month reflects the more mainstream awareness of current environmental challenges, and our responsibilities in finding and building solutions.

While the current federal administration has created uncertainty around environmental protections- including withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement, concerning executive orders on logging, and more- we maintain hope through embracing our individual magic, connecting our strengths, and crafting collective action.

From one Practitioner of Life to another, we encourage you to reach out to your State Legislators, Senators, Governors, Attorneys General, State Environmental Quality Boards, Public Utility Commissions (which regulate energy policy), State Conservation Commissions, and Water Resource Boards to advocate for environmental protection and restoration projects.

Your voice matters in these crucial conversations.

So, we challenge you- activate your innate Air Magic and stir-up some transformation. ♥

What is one practical way that you could practice Earth Magic today? How does it honor Mother Earth?

You can choose to engage with Earth Month as gently or vigorously (or long!) as you like.

REGROW | embracing transformation & renewal

This 30-day month is when we observe immense REGROWTH in nature, the season’s tenacity pulling us from Winter's restful state fully into the vibrant energy of Spring.

This transition invites us to recognize the growth phases present in our daily lives and surroundings.

A young plant begins sprouting in a mossy forest, bathed in warm sunlight at sunrise, and offering us a moment of serenity and hope.
What evidence of regrowth do you witness everyday?

Where do you observe natural phases of renewal and growth during your days, and throughout your weekly environments?

Subtle shifts in light, emerging buds and blossoms, and the return of birdsong are all signaling to us Nature's awakening… are you listening?

|

The beautiful alchemy of Water and Earth Elements create the ideal conditions to nurture seeds.

How did you cultivate your inner soils over the past winter months?

Which seeds within you carry the most Fire, making them most likely to sprout this spring?

Remember, it's never too late to nurture yourself anew, transform your circumstances, and REGROW your connection to inner magic, daily practices, and life’s path. You are magic, and your Magic In Action will transform the world.

Will you choose this next phase of transformation?

Which tools will you choose, and which systems will you cultivate?

Tarot can be a helpful Air Magic tool to aid you in a self-discovery journey, and a cartomancy practice is a viable bridge towards meeting yourself and your innate magic.

Try recording your daily cards and readings with our Writual Tarot Planner, so that observing your own phases is as easy as referencing your own writings!

Are you called to the art of Cartomancy?

Regardless of the tools you choose and actions you take, know that you are magic and your Magic In Action will transform the world. And, because you are magic you must tend to it regularly, too.

You don’t need permission to root and bloom, but this month we do invite you to:

Ground into Self and Earth; cultivate and enrich your inner-soil through unapologetic self-care.

Tend to your innate waters and honor the emotional and flowing nature of your being (we are walking bags of molecularly 99% water after all.)

Water yourself, regularly.

Embrace that you are magic, you are powerful, and when you transform yourself you transform the world… we can’t wait to see all the ways in which you will bloom and prosper!
